Please join us for our 27th Annual St. Valentine’s Day Ball on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at six o’clock in the evening at The Riverview, Simsbury, CT. After a 2-year hiatus due to covid, we are back stronger than ever, ready for an evening of fun with a Cocktail Hour, Hors d’oeuvres, Elegant Four Course Dinner, Open Bar, and Silent and Live Auctions. Dance to the music of Southern New England’s popular dance band Sugar, while mingling alongside four world renowned boxers – Marlon Starling "Magic Man", 'Iceman' John Scully, Vinny Paz 'The Pazmanian Devil' and "Irish" Micky Ward.

Being honored at this year’s event is Bill Moss, who literally fought for a cure this past May at the Haymakers for Hope, Rock ‘N Rumble XI at the House of Blues in Boston. Prior to heading into the ring, Bill stated “I am excited to step up, get in the ring, and raise funds to enable Lea's Foundation and others to continue their critical missions, during these difficult times.” And step up he did, winning his match and raising $32,000 for Lea’s Foundation.
BOXER BIOS
"Irish" Micky Ward has a professional boxing record of 51 fights with 38 wins and 13 losses. He once challenged for the IBF light welterweight title in 1997, and held the WBU light welterweight title in 2000. Ward is widely known for his trilogy of fights with Arturo Gatti, two of which received Fight of the Year awards by The Ring magazine. Ward was portrayed by Mark Wahlberg in the 2010 film The Fighter, which was based on his early career.
Vinny Paz 'The Pazmanian Devil', held world titles at lightweight and light middleweight. His record stands at 50–10, with 30 wins by knockout and five world titles (the IBF lightweight championship, WBA jr. middleweight championship, IBO super middleweight championship, IBC super middleweight championship, and the WBU super middleweight championship). He also won the USBA title. Paz was portrayed by Miles Teller in the 2016 film Bleed for This which is based on his comeback from a spinal injury after a near fatal car crash.
Marlon Starling "Magic Man", has a professional boxing record of 52 fights with 45 wins, 6 losses and 1 draw. He held the WBA welterweight title from 1987 to 1988 and the WBC welterweight title from 1989 to 1990. Starling's victory world title fight came in 1987 when he knocked out Mark Breland in the 11th round to win the WBA welterweight title successfully defending it twice afterwards. In 1989, Starling knocked out Lloyd Honeyghan in the 9th round to win the WBC welterweight title. Starling is one of four world ranked champions born and raised in Hartford CT.
'Iceman' John Scully a former light heavyweight, is now a boxing trainer[1] who has trained two light heavyweight champions, and also serves as an analyst for the ESPN Classic television network. John is also known for his work with disadvantaged former fighters and organizes events targeting former amateur standout fighters and reconnecting them with the boxing community. Scully fought two-time world champion Michael Nunn for the WBO NABO super middleweight title in 1995 and he fought for the IBF world light heavyweight championship in 1996. Scully finished his professional career with a 38–11 record. Scully is also one of four world ranked campions born and raised in Hartford, CT.
